Dr. Lee Verstandig

Founding Principal of The Farragut Group, LLC an experienced, knowledgeable and well-respected team who provide comprehensive strategic advice and planning though the political and public policy processes of government.

Previously, Dr. Verstandig served as the Senior Vice President for Government Affairs at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores responsible for overseeing relationships with federal and state governments which impact the nation's pharmacies. Prior to that, Dr. Verstandig was the Senior Vice President at the National Association of Realtors and served as chief lobbyist with Congress and the Executive Branch. During his tenure there, Fortune Magazine recognized NAR as one of Washington's top 25 most powerful lobbying organizations.

Dr. Verstandig's public service career included a number of senior positions during the Reagan Administration including Under Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Assistant Secretary of Governmental Affairs at the Department of Transportation as well as Assistant to the President of the United States for Intergovernmental Affairs and Chief of Staff to the First Lady. Prior to the Reagan Administration, Dr Verstandig served as Chief of Staff to US Senator John H. Chafee (R-RI).

Prior to his careers in Washington, Dr. Verstandig received a Ph.D in History from Brown University and subsequently was a college professor and Academic Dean at Brown. He and his wife have two sons and reside in Washington.
