Spring Trips:  Cross Country Travels!

Just like bears in spring, Buddy Bison students have emerged from their schools and are exploring the great outdoors. I have been all over the country visiting beautiful parks with them. Here is a quick recap of this month’s travels:

Nebraska – Eugene T. Mahoney State Park – Fifth-grade students from Longfellow Elementary, IA explored the park by hiking and climbing the observation tower.
District of Columbia – National Mall and Memorial Parks – Eighth-grade boys from St. Ignatius Loyola Academy, MD discovered the history of the park while trekking from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial to the Washington Monument.
District of Columbia – Students from Washington Middle School for Girls, Neval Thomas Elementary, KIPP: WILL Academy and Potomac Lighthouse Academy visited the U.S. National Arboretum and Washington Youth Garden. They learned A LOT about plants and how to make a garden of their own.
New York – Brooklyn Bridge Park – Fifth- grade students from Brooklyn Jesuit Prep, NY walked the shoreline looking for crustaceans and mollusks. They collected data about their discoveries.
Indiana – Indiana National Lakeshore –Fifth-grade students explored many unique areas of the park. They were the first children to play in the new natural play area at Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education and they hiked to the dunes at West Beach.
Maryland – Locust Grove Nature Center– Third-grade students from Bullis School cleaned up the creek. These environmentally focused students also raised funds to support our park projects.
