Celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Wilderness Act with a guided hike. There are eight designated wildernesses in Illinois; all located in southern Illinois managed by either Crab Orchard NWR or Shawnee National Forest. These wilderness areas were designated by an act of Congress in 1990. Hike Clear Springs Wilderness in Shawnee National Forest. Call for more information, time, were to meet, etc. and to register. The designation as a wilderness limits the group size. Call by May 11. Wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, Bring water and a pack lunch.
