Hike with a ranger, learn about the history of Fort Churchill, and discover plants and animals along the Carson River. We will walk through the Fort Ruins and along the Carson River. The hike is approximately four miles round-trip. This hike includes a tour of Buckland Station, a historic home/boarding house that was built in 1870. Bring a snack lunch; this hike will last about three and a half hours. Please bring water, sunscreen, hat, good hiking shoes and dress for the weather. Also, binoculars and a camera are always a good idea! Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash. Meet at the museum at Fort Churchill at 11 a.m. Fort Churchill is located 8 miles south of Silver Springs, NV on Highway 95A. Turn onto the Fort Churchill Road and the park is one mile in, on the left.
