National Kids to Parks Day

Please join us on this special day! We will be hosting a variety of events to get kids outside and enjoying our parks.
10:00 a.m. - Canoeing Essentials - Guided canoe trip around our 23 acre lake. $5 fee per person applies; canoes, life vests, and paddles provided. Vehicular transportation required.
1:00 p.m. - Animal Tracks - Come learn about the wildlife that inhabits Staunton River State Park. We'll learn about each different species, and how to identify the tracks they leave behind. Then we'll take a hike to see how many different animal footprints we can find and identify them, and make some plaster casts. $2 fee applies.
3:00 p.m. - Captain Staunton's Cache - Learn the basics of how to navigate using your pace and a compass on your adventure to seek and discover the legacy of Captain Henry Staunton.
Self Guided Events
Geocaching - There are several geocaches located throughout the park. Go to http://www.geocaching.com for details.
Take a Walk on the Wild Side - Take a journey through our Discovery Center and learn all about the native inhabitants of Staunton River State Park.
GPS Journeys - Use a handheld GPS receiver to navigate through the history of the park. Brochure available from Visitor Center.
