Join us in celebrating 100 years of Texas State Parks with s'mores and a S'mission Competition! State Parks Centennial logoWhat better way to celebrate the past 100 years of Texas State Parks and look forward to 100 more years than enjoying s’mores with family or friends? Join us at the Group Dining Hall, where we will have picnic tables, a large fire pit, and s'mores ingredients. We will be making s'mores 10-11am. S'mission Competition entries will be judged at 3:30pm at the Group Dining Hall and winner announced at 4pm. S'mission Competition: Create a s'mores version of Mission Espiritu Santo using traditional s'mores ingredients of chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallows for a chance to win a $50 park store gift card! Get creative with chocolate chips, marshmallow fluff, graham cracker crumbs, and other forms of chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow to create your version of Mission Espiritu Santo. The winner of Best S'mission will get a $50 Texas State Parks Gift Card, courtesy of the Amigos of Goliad State Park. (Supplies will be limited and will only include chocolate bars, graham crackers, and large marshmallows. Please bring extra ingredients if participating in the contest.) The S'missions will be presented at 3:30pm and the winner will be announced at 4pm. Bring: Marshmallow roasting stick, wet wipes, drinking water, extra ingredients if participating in the contest. Meet: At the Group Dining Hall in the Jacales campground at 10am. Texas State Parks will be hosting fun and unique s’mores celebrations across Texas on May 13. Guarantee entry by reserving your day pass up to one month before this special event. If you can’t make it to a park, join the fun by hosting your own s’mores get-together. Post a photo of your s’mores celebration on Facebook or Instagram @texasstateparks.org with the hashtag #100SmoreYears.
