Lake Somerville State Park - Birch Creek Unit Birch Creek Unit 14222 Park Road 57 Somerville, Texas

Lengthen your connective tissues and downregulate your nervous system in this 60-minute practice of long, passive and mat-based poses under the leadership of an experienced registered yoga teacher (200-ERYT). Yin Yoga has roots in Taoism, and this practice will be informed by the Meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In yin yoga, poses are held for long periods of time in the threshold of discomfort. We stretch the fascia and add a constructive stress load of ligaments, joints and tendons. The result is a correction of the dysfunctions in our connective tissues caused by habitual movement patterns and a downregulation of the Autonomic Nervous System. Yin poses are traditional named after features of nature, and we think that Birch Creek is an ideal setting for “creature yin yoga.” Bring a yoga mat and whatever props you prefer (ideally two blocks, a blanket and a yoga bolster).
