Kids to Parks Day at Burlington Arboretum at Willowbrook Park, 315 W. Willowbrook Drive, will be Saturday, May 20, from noon-3 p.m. No registration is required for this free drop-in event to celebrate National Kids to Parks Day and Alamance Creek Week. Families are invited to learn about the importance of water and healthy creeks through hands-on activities with an environmental educator, learn about the critters that call the creek home (and have some up-close encounters for the willing), go on a scavenger hunt to explore the arboretum, learn about the plants and trees, visit the recreation staff at the Park & Play van, a mobile recreation station with activities like fort building and life-sized games. Enjoy the new playground and discover the tree house during your visit. Bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent. Consider packing a picnic and finding a shady place to enjoy your lunch. Wear sturdy shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Vehicles may be parked at the site, and there will be some on-street parking around the arboretum.
