Twin Lakes State Park 788 Twin Lakes Rd Green Bay, Virginia

Celebrate National Kids to Parks Day at Twin Lakes. This year, Twin Lakes will is offering the following free programs, which meet at the Discovery Area, previously known as "The Spot" or the concession building: 10 a.m. - Lake Explorers The edges of our lakes feature a tiny world teeming with life. In this program we'll use dip nets to explore a lake ecosystem, and explain the importance of some of the wildlife we find. 1 p.m. - Backyard Bass This land-based, hook-free fishing game is a fun and safe way to learn how to cast, but even those who are fishing fanatics will enjoy trying to beat out the competition in this game of limited resources. This program is suitable for all ages. 3 p.m. - Meet and Greet with Ranger Myrtle the Turtle Meet Ranger Myrtle, the park's Red-eared Slider turtle. Those who stop by will learn how this native to the deep south ended up at Twin Lakes State Park, what she does with her eggs, and how to be a friend to Myrtle and all other turtles. Parks are for everyone. This is an inclusive program open to all people. To ensure an enjoyable time, please alert park staff to any necessary special accommodations you or your group may need.
