While the prickly pear cactus can be a painful reminder of the diverse Texas landscape it can also be a delicious addition to our family meals! If you've ever hiked in West Texas, you may meet cacti the hard way. A spine in the tip of your finger, a leaf, or you may have stepped on a fallen one. While the prickly pear can be a painful reminder of our diverse and rugged Texas landscape, it can also be a delicious addition to our family meals. In this program we are going to demonstrate the good that comes out of the prickly pear by showing you how to prepare it into a delicious meal. Where: Fort Leaton State Historic Site Kitchen.
