Guardians of the Canyon

Along this stretch of the Colorado River there is a group known as the Guardians of the Canyon They are the ones that notice everything, protect the river, and help preserve the Black Canyon Water Trail On May 15th, kids will have the opportunity to become an official guardian themselves through Guardian Challenges via their Canyon Quest Card Each participant will get a Canyon quest card (checklist) + Hoover Dam Rafting Binoculars to help them along the way!  Wildlife Watch – Guardians always keep an eye out for who else lives here. o Spot an animal(s)  River Touch – To protect the river, you must understand it. o Touch the water at the beach stop and describe it  Canyon Clues – The canyon leaves clues everywhere. You just have to notice them o Find different colored rocks or unique shapes in the rocks  The Quiet Moment – The canyon only shares its secrets when you listen. o 30 seconds of silence (HA!)  Guardian Call- The canyon doesn’t just listen. Sometimes it answers back. o Call @ Echo Cave  Proof of Discovery- Every Guardian brings back proof of what they discovered. o As rafts come into the harbor Raft pilots to ask a couple questions on things the kids learned about on their quest. As they disembark, kids will show the raft pilot their quest card and receive an official Canyon Guardian sticker They will show their official sticker at the Willow Beach store for a free ice cream bar.
