National Park Trust and Green Beret Foundation are excited to welcome you to a weekend of recreation, community, and connection at Great Smoky Mountains National Park! We look forward to hosting you at the Tremont Institute in the Great Smoky Mountains from Friday, October 16th, to Sunday, October 18th. Below is an itinerary for the weekend’s events, along with a recommended packing list for your records. - What: An amazing weekend of hiking, exploring, wildlife viewing, and NPS programming at Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the height of the fall foliage season.

Itinerary for Great Smoky Mountains National Park Weekend:
Friday, October 16th, 2026:
- 11:30 – 12:00: Arrive at Tremont Institute, check in for the weekend
- 12:00 – 1:00: Lunch and Orientation in the Dining Hall
- 1:00 – 4:00: Waterfall Hike
- 4:00 – 6:00: Free Time, Exploration
- 6:00 – 7:00: Dinner
- 7:00 – 8:00: Fireside Programming with NPS
Saturday, October 17th:
- 8:00 – 9:00: Breakfast
- 9:00 – 1:00: Guided Hiking through the Great Smoky Mountains
- 1:00 – 2:00: Lunch
- 2:00 – 5:00: Free Time!
- 5:00 – 6:00: Dinner
- 6:00 – 8:00: Evening Fire, S’mores!
Sunday, October 18th:
- 8:00: Breakfast
- 9:00 – 10:30: Creekside Program, Silent Nature Walk
- 10:30 – 11:00: Grab bag lunch, Event Complete! Explore the park!
Packing List for Great Smoky Mountains Weekend:
- Sleeping bag/ Linens
- Warm Clothes (Temperatures drop to the 40’s in the evening)
- Hiking Shoes
- Military ID
- Toiletries (Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Soap)
