Ambassador Aodhan put together a great list of his gift ideas for Junior Rangers! Perfect for the holidays or birthdays, check out his ideas below.

  1. Junior Ranger Badge Banner/Display – You can buy or make one. My mom has done both.
  2. Buddy Bison Stuffed Animal – He likes to snuggle, go on road trips, & loves to have his picture taken in parks.
  3. Compass – All Junior Rangers should have a compass and know how to use it.
  4. Telescope – Great for viewing amazing night skies when visiting the parks.
  5. Binoculars – For when you want to see animals up-close, safely in the parks.
  6. Reusbale Water Bottle – Junior Rangers always need to stay hydrated.
  1. Backpack – For carrying all our Junior Ranger gear.
  2. Sleeping Bag – For sleeping and staying warm when camping.
  3. Tent – Great in a park or even setting up in the backyard for a reading space.
  4. Snacks – Stuffing the stocking with healthy snacks is a great idea..
  5. Books about National Parks – There are many! One of my favorites is Brighty of the Grand Canyon by Marguerite Henry.
  6. Journal – Used for writing or drawing about what junior rangers learn at the park.
  7. Camera – Junior Rangers are not allowed to take things from the park but we can take pictures so we can keep the memory.
  8. Atlas/maps – It always helpts to know where they are going.
  9. Park Pass – If the junior ranger doesn’t qualify for the free park pass this is a great gift that lasts all year.
  10. Junior Ranger vest and hat – These are fun to wear at the parks and wear badges on.
  11. NPS Coloring & activity books – For the drive in the car, before going to bed, or rainy days
  12. National Park Map Scratch Off – A fun way for Junior Rangers to mark off the parks they have visited.
  13. Games – There are a lot of fun games with special Park editions: Trivia, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Trekking the National Parks, Camp, and many more…
  14. Junior Ranger, Buddy Bison, & National Parks T-shirts- A great way to show your park pride.
