Finding Calm Along the Streams of the Great Smoky Mountains
Over a crisp November weekend, participants gathered in Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing trip centered on connection, learning, and time outdoors.

Surrounded by misty ridgelines, flowing mountain streams, and late-autumn colors, veterans spent their days fly fishing and exploring one of the most biodiverse national parks in the country.

Throughout the trip, participants built skills on the water while sharing stories and camaraderie along the riverbanks. With space to slow down and reconnect, the experience offered moments of reflection and restoration, highlighting the power of public lands to support healing, community, and resilience.
