Hampton University Takes on The Adventure Park
On February 21st, Hampton’s college ambassadors had the pleasure of leading 12 students from the Brownies Outdoors Club on a local park outing to The Adventure Park at Virginia Aquarium. The day was filled with excitement, encouragement, and unforgettable firsts as students challenged themselves both physically and mentally high above the ground.
The Adventure Park was designed to push participants beyond their comfort zones through treetop climbing courses and ziplines of varying difficulty levels. Ambassadors Jada and Cydnie chose this location because it offered the perfect balance of adventure and personal growth. Not only did it require physical strength and endurance, but it also challenged students to confront fears of heights and self-doubt. For many of the participants, this was their first time visiting the park, and for some, their first time ever riding a zipline! Their excitement was evident from the very beginning, and their energy carried throughout the entire outing.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was watching two participants successfully complete the park’s most difficult course—the Black Diamond course. Their determination and perseverance were incredibly impressive, and it was inspiring to see their confidence grow with each obstacle they conquered.
Jada and Cydnie felt proud and grateful to witness the joy and accomplishment on everyone’s faces. The National Park Trust College Ambassador Program makes experiences like this possible at no cost to students, removing financial barriers that might otherwise prevent them from engaging with the outdoors. Participants not only tried something new, but many left with a newfound appreciation for outdoor adventure. With continued support from the National Park Trust, young people can continue exploring nature and share that passion with their friends, families, and communities.

Overall, the outing was a tremendous success, and it reinforced why providing access to outdoor spaces is so important.
