The Nature Gap had an unforgettable day at Sesquicentennial State Park with Benedict College on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025! The sun was shining, birds were singing, and a refreshing breeze filled the air as we set off from campus. Our adventure kicked off with a scenic walk to the ninety-five year old spillway, where we soaked in the stunning views. Thanks to our amazing partnership with the Columbia Audubon Society, each student had binoculars to birdwatches as we hiked the loop trail around the lake. We spotted hawks, buzzards, and even a woodpecker!

Students couldn’t stop sharing how much they loved the fresh air and the fun of the walk. After the hike, we dove into the lake experience with canoe and paddleboat rentals. It was a blast cruising across the water, exploring the small island, and even racing our advisor in a canoe! To wrap up the day, we gathered around the picnic tables for lunch, sharing stories, laughs, and unforgettable memories. By the end of the day, everyone was asking, “When are we doing this again?” We’re thrilled to be part of this incredible journey with the students at Benedict College and can’t wait for the next adventure!
