“Some of my best childhood memories are outside – exploring, hiking, and camping. That love of the outdoors is partly what drew me to West Point and the Army, though years of night movements and terrain planning at times turned nature into more of a workplace than a sanctuary for a while. What rekindled that was a trip to Olympic National Park after I left active duty – walking through the Hoh Rain Forest and up to Hurricane Ridge without an objective for the first time in years. The sheer wonder of it stayed with me. Now, raising two young daughters just outside Shenandoah National Park (and watching a toddler encounter a trail for the first time) helps me rediscover it all over again. We’re building our own family tradition of national parks, and that feels like the right time to get involved with the Park Trust. My work as a private wealth advisor is about stewardship – helping clients preserve and pass on what they’ve built. That’s exactly what the Park Trust does, and why I wanted to be part of it.”
