Washington, D.C.

A New England native, Joe spent his early years exploring the marshes and inlets of Long Island Sound. As a Boy Scout, he hiked and camped across the Northeast and taught wilderness bushcraft skills at the region’s summer camp. In later years, he’s enjoyed river float trips, backpacking in the iconic National Parks of the Four Corners, and a month-long trek in Wyoming’s Bridger Wilderness Area. Married with two daughters, the family continues to explore National Parks and outdoor recreation. A believer in getting kids to parks, he and his daughters started an annual grade school camping trip, often the first such experience for many of the students.

Joe is a graduate of Boston University/BU Law and a partner at the Hunton law firm, advising clients on environmental regulatory programs and federal policy issues. Prior to that, he was Majority Counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, practiced environmental law at other firms, and was a professional staff member at the Massachusetts House Committee on Natural Resources.
