Texas

Hello World! My name is Saanvi Sita Mylavarapu and I am a 15-year-old sophomore from Texas.

I was 6 years old when I visited my first National park – Mammoth Caves National Park. Since then, I have visited over 22 National Parks (and some more than once) and have hiked and backpacked over 700 miles. Some of my favorite hikes are the Half Dome hike (Yosemite National Park), Highline Trail (Glacier National Park), and the Teton Crest trail (Grand Tetons National Park). Most recently, I have climbed Mt. Whitney through the mountaineering route.  I have also hiked to Everest Base Camp and climbed Kala Pathar in the spring of 2022.

Over the years, I realized there is a lot to learn from mother Earth. I am on a mission to encourage people to go out and explore nature. Earth went through several transformations over  4.5  billion years and in our lifetime let’s try to seek, learn, explore and enjoy the beauty of nature –  the air, Sun, different water bodies, landscapes, mountains, valleys, canyons, various seasons and the list is endless.

I encourage everyone to explore, enjoy and help nature through the ‘Saanvi Speak Series’ found on my Instagram handle – @Chalkbagsntents

My conservation efforts caught media attention – NBC, CBS, WGN, ETV networks.  Also in magazines and newspapers – Downers Grove Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Herald, The Living Magazine, The Frisco Enterprise.

Being a National Park Trust Student Ambassador, I will be able to reach out to a larger section of people, and not only encourage them to visit our amazing parks which are also known as America’s Best Idea, but also ways to preserve them which should develop naturally.

Besides my love of nature, I am a trained western violinist, and a trained Carnatic singer, and I am learning the Indian classical dance form – Kuchipudi. I am also into rock climbing both indoors and outdoors and I frequently train at my local rock climbing gym 2-3 times a week.
