Communications & Programs Intern

Sophia grew up in the DC Metro area, where her appreciation for the outdoors came from her Abuela, who instilled a love for local parks, arts, history, and education. As a child, she and her family loved exploring the area’s local, state, and national parks. Now a senior at the University of Maryland studying communications and digital media, she combines her communication skills and love for the outdoors to advocate for the importance of having access to public lands, parks, and waters for all.

Before joining National Park Trust, Sophia was a digital youth engagement design intern for the National Parks of Boston through the Latino Heritage Internship Program. During her time in Boston, she created various digital stories and materials to engage with students, youth, and families from the City of Boston to reimagine the role of digital media and the importance of aligning with community needs and interests. As the Communications and Programs Intern at the National Park Trust, she works closely with Ivan and Devon to assist them with developing, implementing, and managing social media content and creating storytelling content that aligns with the Park Trust’s communication goals.
