In 2005, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) was initiated to assist wounded military personnel returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Since its inception, PHWFF has grown nationally, implementing its successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and clinics across the country. PHWFF is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.
National Park Trust collaborates with PHWFF to engage with military families in the Washington DC metro area, linking them with nearby national parks and promoting the advantages of outdoor recreation.
